ABOUT
LAST CHANCE
We are facing the last opportunity to act for the conservation of endangered species as we confront the imminent 6th mass extinction in our planet's history. This critical moment demands our immediate intervention; protecting biodiversity is not only an ecological imperative but a responsibility to ensure the balance of ecosystems and the sustainable future of humanity.
HISTORY & MISSION.
The mission of the REPROCON Institute is to develop technologies and reproductive management practices that promote animal conservation, integrating research innovation, civil society engagement, knowledge transfer, and support for effective public policies.
The history of the REPROCON Institute began with the union of two initiatives: one focused on the reproduction of wild animals and the other on production animals. Together, they formed a strong group.
In 2007, researchers Gediendson and Thyara began work at the Federal University of Viçosa, involving the collection and processing of semen from wild carnivores. They developed pharmacological semen collection protocols for animals under human care and, particularly, in the wild.
In 2015, veterinarians Letícia, Pedro, and Hernan decided to adapt and apply reproductive biotechnologies from production animals, such as in vitro embryo production, to cougars.
With the common goal of conserving wild felids, especially the jaguar, the two groups met in 2016 and began planning joint work.
Finally, in 2017, professionals Gediendson, Thyara, Hernan, Pedro, and Letícia, along with professors Cristiane and Kiky, initiated REPROCON. The institute was founded with the additional participation of veterinarians Antônio Carlos, Maitê, and Thiago.
In a short time, REPROCON established itself and has developed technologies and expertise in the reproduction of wild animals, both in its own projects and in collaboration with other initiatives, resulting in important discoveries.

WILDLIFE CHALLENGES.
PARTNERS.
Partners play a vital role by providing access to animals, as well as technological, financial, or knowledge support. These collaborations enable the enhancement of reproductive management practices. The synergy between institutions, aligned with the concept of One Conservation, allows us to face challenges, promoting sustainability and protecting threatened ecosystems.
