About the event
Assisted reproductive technologies (ART) are designed to enhance genetic exchange between individuals in different locations, allowing access to the germplasm of young, elderly, and even post-mortem animals. Consequently, these technologies serve as valuable tools in the conservation of endangered species.
Despite the potential benefits, several challenges hinder the progress of ART in wild animals. Methodological difficulties in developing these technologies are exacerbated by the scarcity of available animals and the lack of qualified professionals. Additionally, the wide variety of species needing attention adds complexity to the task. Even rarer are the groups of researchers capable of handling and collecting material from free-living animals, as this requires specialized skills to apply ex situ technologies in in situ environments.
This workshop aims to bring together researchers with expertise in various biotechnologies related to the conservation of wild, captive, and free-living animals. It seeks to empower professionals with the potential to drive propagation…
